Cemetery

Here in Japan we unfortunately do not own burial plots. However for permanent residents members of the JCJ some plots are available at the Yokohama Foreigners’ Cemetery– Jewish Section.

Yokohama Gaijin Bochi 96, Yamate-cho
Naka-ku, Yokohama-shi, Kanagawa-ken, Japan

For a listing of individuals buried at the cemetery,  please see at the bottom of the page.
For information about our Chevrah Kaddishah, please click here.

Directions to the cemetery in Yokohama.

Take the Tokyo Toyoko line Train Line. It runs from Yokohama Station to Motomachi station. The line is connected with the Tokyu line at Yokohama so that it is possible to take the train from Shibuya to Motomachi Station (express train ride is 35 minutes). From Motomachi Station the lower gate to the Foreign Cemetery is less than a five minute walk.

The main entrance to the cemetery is at the top of the hill. Do not go to this entrance. There is another entrance at the bottom of the hill with a guard. The Jewish section is close to this entrance.

The caretaker of the cemetery is Mr. Shisei Higuchi. He may be reached by telephone or fax at 045-622-1311.

For the foreigner's cemetery in Kobe, please contact the Jewish Community of Kansai at 078-221-723.
